“We are considered alive only until we have this body”. Our bodies are the most efficient machines. Even though each body is made up of billions of unique cells and complex organs, it works in harmony and it adapts to everything we subject it to. From natural defenses against diseases to breaking down complex foods, the body functions so naturally.
It is important to take care of this body. Like a machine that needs a tune-up from time to time to perform better, our bodies also need some attention and care. The physical body needs three important components – Food, Exercise and Rest
Food:
You can make the choice to eat known unhealthy or heavily processed foods, or you can choose to eat freshly prepared healthier foods. The body can process both types of food but while the fresh food has more nutrient content requiring less strain to digest, complexly processed food with often unnatural food chemicals added, needs more work to be broken down and in effect can greatly disturb the natural internal balance.
When you are aware of your food choices and observant of your body, you become sensitive to changes like allergies and other physical discomforts. So be mindful of the fuel that you choose to give your body.
Foods can be classified into the mode of goodness, passion and ignorance depending on the nature of the items that are consumed.

Exercise:
Our current bodies as they are right now came through generations of changes and adaptations. We have had no time in history that humans had access to as much food as we have right now. Abundance is a blessing on one end but because of over indulgence, it has become a curse. Before, humans as hunter/gatherers, had to work hard for their calories but now days you can get a days worth of calories in a slice of pizza or a bag of chips.
So more than ever, we need a way to reduce and burn calories. This is where exercise comes in. There are so many different ways to evaluate your own body and depending on the needs, there are many different exercises such as Running, Lifting weights, Biking, Hiking, Yoga and many more. It is very important to do something for you own health.
Rest:
We cannot stress more on the importance of rest. For our bodies to function better and be more efficient, rest is really important. When we rest, we give the body a break from the additional functions that we subject the body to throughout the day. If you have noticed, when we get a full night’s sleep, we are more energized in the morning. Through the day we feel relaxed, restful and rejuvenated. On the contrary, when we do not get our regular sleep, we are groggier, more irritable and tired.
Along with sleep, take breaks to meditate and just relax throughout the day. Taking these pauses gives you a conscious moment to analyze the events as they happen rather than just living life without taking a moment to think.
So the benefits of sleep outway the lack of it. Science suggests that an individual requires at least 7-9 hours of sleep. If you want to function better, remember to get the necessary amount of rest that your body desires.
